CloudLinux 6 kernel updated: Dirty Cow issue fixed

The new updated CloudLinux 6 kernel with Dirty Cow issue fix is available from our updates-testing repository.

Changelog:

  • CVE-2016-5195: a race condition in the memory management code can be used for local privilege escalation.

To update run:

# yum clean all; yum install kernel-2.6.32-673.26.1.lve1.4.18.el6 kmod-lve-1.4-18.el6 --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing

and reboot the server

Tested on two servers: One dedicated and one virtual Xen guest. The software stack was generally identical and both was updated (yum -y update) before following the instructions.

I have one of the stack traces, college confirms that the second was similar/identical.

Both servers booted fine on the previous (but vulnerable) kernel.

I did it on many of my servers and worked just on one of them as the rest all show errors.
