is using .user.ini files as simple as creating the file and putting it in the appropriate directory? It doesn't seem to be affecting the settings. I saw this, which leads me to believe it should work: https://www.cloudlinux.com/forum/forum18/lsapi-installation?start=0#reply-6299

I'm using phpselector with lsapi and cpanel. Other than that, nothing crazy.

Hello Ryan! Thank you for reaching out!
You just need to make sure that lsapi_enable_user_ini and lsapi_user_ini_homedir are included in lsapi
That is, just drop the file and it works. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance!

Excellent! That worked.

It looks like the setting user_ini.cache_ttl (which is set to 300) is being ignored. Is there a setting that controls this?

Hello Ryan! Unfortunately user_ini.cache_ttl is not supported in lsapi. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance!

No problem. I actually don't like it anyway, but I was just curious.
