New Snapshot feature improvement coming to cPanel users

This week users will see an enhancement to the CPU and Concurrent Connection section in cPanel: HTTP Snapshots. In addition to Process Lists and Database Queries Snapshots already released in the beta repo, Snapshots of HTTP queries in the Apache web server becomes available as part of the beta release of lve-stats 2.

CloudLinux OS new Apache module, mod_proctitle, allows the creation of a list of running HTTP requests for a specific user in case of a performance incident, when the user hits the limit several times. We consider performance issues that happen within the short time frame of each other, set to 5 minutes by default, as a single incident. The automated snapshot of the incident remains in the system for 30 days (can be specified) and can be accessed by the user at any point within that period based on the specific date/time of an incident.

To enable the HTTP Snapshot feature, server administrator has to follow next steps:

  1. Install or upgrade lvestats to the latest version from Beta repo:
    yum update lve-stats --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing #(upgrade)
    yum install lve-stats --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing #(install)

  2. Upgrade lvemanager to version 1.0-9.39 from Beta repo:
    yum update lvemanager --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing

  3. Install mod_proctitle version from Beta repo:
    yum install mod_proctitle --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing #(if you don’t have EA4)
yum install ea-apache24-mod_proctitle --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing #(if EA4 is installed on your server)

For more installation details please follow the blog post on https://www.cloudlinux.com/cloudlinux-os-blog/entry/beta-lve-stats2-updated.

Kudos for all the new features! Does this (or will this) also work with mod_lsapi?

This works out of the box with mod_lsapi.

When is this coming to Plesk?

We are working on SPA (single page) integration that will be common for all control panels. It should be available ~ Nov 2016. At that time snapshots will be available in Plesk as well.

Hi Igor (and team),

any news on the progress of this much anticipated SPA integration? :-)
Just checking up since we're mid November.

Hello,

I not using Apache. Any support for LSWS ?

Thanks.

No support for URLs for LSWS. We submitted to LiteSpeed team what we need to show the URLs, and we hope they will add such extension soon enough. Without such changes to LiteSpeed, we simply unable to pick up this information. For Apache -- we had to develop our own module. For LiteSpeed, only LiteSpeed team can do that.

The latest versions (5.0.19 and 5.1.7) mention this in the release log:

"Added CloudLinux mod_proctitle style output in real-time status report."

Does this mean that LSWS will support URLs too now?

Still work in progress, hopefully within 4-5 weeks.

It will be part of our next beta - they format it in the way we need, but we receive it from a bit different place.

Hi Igor,

Any more news?

Thanks!

Hi Igor, Any more news? Thanks!

Can you guys consider implementing a size limit of the snapshot files? We end up with files that have up to 300MB, that are filling the /var partition (mainly due to a large MySQL query that is saved).

We are trying to figure out the best way to deal with it. Should we dump old ones, should we save less, should we not save new ones...
It requires a bit more thought.

Igor, we are still facing this issue. today a client contacted us with more than 30 GB on lve snapshots.. they goes from 40 to 150 MB each.

Do you have a support ticket # -- we need to investigate why / how it could have accumulated so much.

Hi Igor, thanks for getting back, indeed we have a new ticket about that (and also provided context and feedback about this).

Ticket #14446

We managed to free space again using the command provided by CL Support on the same ticket.

Jose, have you received an update in ticket #14446 ? I can see our engineer replied soon after he had got your message yesterday.
