Getting started with CloudLinux OS Shared

Updating CloudLinux OS software

CloudLinux OS has its own repositories for installing and updating packages.

Cloudlinux-base and cloudlinux-updates repositories are used only during the conversion process, so you don’t need to use them explicitly under normal circumstances. These two repositories and CloudLinux stable repository are governed by yum-rhn-plugin

There is a special repository – cloudlinux-updates-testing – which can be used to install packages from beta channel.

Note that it is disabled by default so it has to be enabled explicitly in CLI during package installation or updating.

$ yum install packagename --enablerepo=cloudlinux-updates-testing

To install packages from stable repository, use the default format:

$ yum install packagename

CloudLinux OS performs the activation key check, so your license has to be valid to be able to use the cloudlinux repositories.

Using third-party repositories is still possible with CloudLinux OS – just make sure you have followed all the steps described here.

CloudLinux OS has the same end-of-life policy as CentOS/RHEL. The exact EOL dates are listed here.
