CloudLinux Releases Upgrade to LVE 0.8

ANN ARBOR, Mich., February 22, 2011CloudLinux, a Linux OS that improves the stability of Web hosting, today released Lightweight Virtual Environment (LVE) 0.8, the latest release of its flagship isolation technology that increases server density, stability and reliability.

The new release features enhanced memory limits, support for multiple CPU cores per LVE, simplified lvetop output, improved lve-stats daemon, support for memory and number of cores reporting in lveinfo, cPanel LVE Manager improvements to manage memory and CPU limits, and much more. Full details are available at

CloudLinux’s LVE technology already limits the amount of available resources for CPU, memory, and IO. The LVE 0.8 upgrade provides the ability to adjust cores per LVE and open up new flexibility in semi-dedicating hosting, where a single server hosts just a few accounts. LVE 0.8 adds memory limits and the ability to track and monitor memory usage on an account by account basis.

This new technology offers improved statistics by tracking memory usage, enabling data analysis and historical information. Beyond improved resource issolation, the release of LVE 0.8 is able to support multiple CPU cores per LVE and the ability to adjust the number of cores per website. LVE 0.8 settings allow exact limits on resources per customer, and easy management of resources that the hosting provider sets for each account on a shared server.

The precision and individualization LVE 0.8 provides ensures that even sparsely populated shared hosting servers can continue to be operated as a shared hosting server, supported by just a few hosting customers. In order to better manage memory and CPU limits, the LVE 0.8 upgrade also includes cPanel LVE Manager improvements and support for memory reporting in LVE information.

“CloudLinux is excited to release this significant upgrade as new technology allows new twists on semi-dedicated hosting,” said CloudLinux Founder and CEO Igor Seletskiy. Although LVE 0.8 has been in beta testing since November 2010, we were determined not to release until we had completed full testing and resolution of potential bugs. Were confident that LVE 0.8 will only increase the quality of service our customers have come to expect from CloudLinux.
